Why the $200K has Disappeared from DFW

It’s no secret that the cost of homes have gone up in the DFW area. What once was one of the most affordable housing markets in Real Estate has shifted tremendously. The fact is, there are just not enough houses being built in the $175-$200K bracket any more. While it is perceived that there is an infinite abundance of land in the great state of Texas; there is not enough land at a low enough price to build homes at the aforementioned prices. Simply put the cost of land is up so the the cost of building a home on that land is also up. With low inventory and high demand for home construction it seems $300K is the new normal in affordable housing standards.
